Did you know that you can collect miles not only by flying but also by transferring money or even buying crypto with your Miles & More credit card (or similar cards)?
Normally, when you buy crypto with a credit card, the system checks the merchant code. In most cases, these transactions won’t qualify for earning miles. Similarly, direct money transfers usually don’t generate points.
Some people use services like Revolut to top up with their card — but often, they don’t receive any points for it.
The Workaround
There’s a trick that allows you to earn miles and double-dip with additional rewards. Here’s how:
- Get a miles-earning card
Examples include:- Spuerkees Luxair Miles & More Visa
- BeoBank Brussels Airlines Miles & More Visa
- BeoBank Flying Blue cards
- Open a Trade Republic account
You can top up your account with your credit card. Note: This costs 1% fee — keep that in mind. - Use the Trade Republic virtual card
Once topped up, you can use the Trade Republic card to:- Buy crypto directly
- Or top up your Revolut account
- Spend via Revolut
After funding Revolut, you can pay bills like gas, electricity, or other services that normally don’t accept cards.- Check carefully which transactions (like CNS transfers) get approved.
- If you spend abroad in non-EUR countries, you can use Revolut cards and also earn RevPoints.
About RevPoints
With Revolut, the number of points you earn depends on your plan:
- Standard: 1 point per €10 spent
- Ultra: 1 point per €1 spent
RevPoints can be transferred at a 1:1 ratio to partners like Avios, Flying Blue, TAP Miles&Go, and Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles.
Final Thoughts
This method isn’t free — that 1% top-up fee at Trade Republic should be considered — but if you optimize correctly, you can collect miles and RevPoints at the same time.
Personally, I use Bitpanda, Crypto.com, and Nexo for crypto. Which exchanges do you prefer? Let me know if this method works for you and if you would like a referal link for Revolut, Trade Republic and crypto exchanges.
