American Express has just launched a new promotion.
You will get 60.000 Membership Rewards points when you upgrade your current AMEX card, Blue, Green or Gold to Platinum.
These are the conditions:
– you need to hold one of the three cards already at least 6 months
– you did not ask for an upgrade or other card change the last 6 months
– you need to apply before 28th November 2023
– you need to spend at least 5000 € until 28th February 2024
Points will be transferred in April 20234
This promotion is very good to get 60.000 Membership Reward points. You can access it with this link
You need to pay the full price, this means 65€ per month.
Do not forget that you can have 1 additional partner platinum card where you can subscribe for priority pass and benefit from the dining cashback!
Also you can signup up to 4 Green additional cards for your family which are free of charge.
If you get the points, the best is to hold the card for a year, and then if you do not want to hold, to downgrade it to Gold, or Green/Blue with the Membership Rewards option.
Ah, what a pity that Amex Brussels Airlines MM card is not included in this promotion. I am looking for a promotion to finally upgrade to Platinum, but my current card is not eligible 🙂
I never heard that you can upgrade your AMEX Brussels Airlines MM to Gold, Platinum.
Only non co branded cards are allowed for the upgrade like Blue, Green, Gold to Platinum.
Just to make sure : With my Amex Brussels Airlines Card I get 1.5 Miles for each 1 Eur spent. With the AmEx Platinium I’ll receive 1 AmEx Point peur 1 Eur spend. If I transfer these points to Miles & More miles I’ll get 4 miles for 5 points…
So the advantage would be that AmEx Points could be transferred to multipe Miles programs (eg also AirFrance) but I would loose the very interesting 1.5 per Eur rate
Well AMEX Brussels Airlines Premium card is co branded with Brussels Airlines.
The program of Brussels Airlines is Miles&More, so therefor you earn points, here miles directly to your Miles&More account.
Indeed its 1,5 miles per 1 Euro spent, but limited to Miles&More, but you can redeem flights as well to other airlines, like Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, and so on which are partners with Star Alliance and/or with Miles&More program.
Indeed Green, Gold and Platinum you receive 1 points for 1 Euro spend to your Membership Reward account where you can transfer to partners, like Air France, British Airways,Etihad, Emirates, Finnair and some hotel programs.
If you tranfer from here to Miles&More, then you receive only 1 miles per 2 points.
So you need to check before you order cards, which program you are collecting the most miles.
If Miles&More, then Brussels Airlines card is the best.
If you are collecting for British Airways and so on, then Platinum, Gold and Green.
Hi, do you know if you can sign up for Amex Gold/plat (with referral) if you hold an Amex Brussels airline card? Since they seem to consider them separate products?
Hi,
that should be fine
in general if you would like to maximize your MR points, then sign up for Gold, and hold it at least 6 month before upgrading to platinum when there is an upgrade promotion.
